2012 comes to a close....the puppy edition.

Well, as 2012 comes to a close, thought I would take a look back at an eventful year for all the Cardigans, of course starting with Skyla's puppies.

Jet:  Jet got back in the show ring in March after recovering from parvo.  April was a great month for Jet with winning Reserve Winner's dog at the National Specialty, shown beautifully by one of his favorite people Sherri Hurst.   Jet finished his championship in October and is taking a little break from showing to start working on his Rally Novice in 2013 but will probably start working on his Grand Championship in 2013 too.  Jet is the sweetest  boy and I just love my little man.

Stevie:  Well, Stevie is Stevie.  Full of herself and always looking to have fun.  She got her last major in March and place 3rd in her class in Sweeps and the Regular classes at Nationals.  Stevie finished her championship in May.  We have continued to work on her show skills and we have made good progress on her Grand Championship and the naughty girl even picked up her first Best of Breed.    I just love that wild child and have such a good time showing her.

Macy:  Macy had a really good summer and fall in the show ring.  She got her first Best of Breed from the classes and a Group 2, the first and only group placement from Skyla's puppies.  She picked up both majors and finished her Championship too.  A big thanks to Don and Jacque Glenn for showing Sky's pretty girl and giving her such a good home.

Rojo:  Rojo has been a busy boy in 2012.  He has gotten two herding titles from AKC and two more from other herding associations.  He is working on agility and obedience and I see more titles in his future.  Sandy has done a wonderful job with him and I feel so blessed that he has such a great home.  Love Skyla's handsome red boy..:)

Louie (aka Tanner):  Louie has been having a great time with his family in Michigan.  He became a certified therapy dog in Feb and has been doing that plus working on some obedience.   His family adore him and I feel very lucky that my pretty big brindle boy is so happy.

Go Sisters Go....

Since Rojo got his own blog post a couple of months ago, its time for the sisters to get their chance.  (Jet - no I didn't forget you, you get your very own blog post next. )

Stevie and Macy have been very busy sisters the past few months...first Macy.

Macy (Kingsbury Obsidian Pie in the Sky) has been making a big splash back in the conformation ring.  She picked up her first points at Purina Farms in May and in July, she won Best of Breed from the classes and went on to a Group 2 placement.  Macy is the sweet, dark brindle girl that went to live with their daddy Harry P and Jacque/Don.   She has been hanging out with the Kingsbury family and enjoying some growning up time.  Miss Macy has developed into a very pretty young lady.  Her momma Skyla and I couldn't be more proud.

Sister Stevie (CH Obsidian's Sky's The Limit)  has been making her presence known in the show ring too...but with Stevie is there no other way..:)   At the 2012 CWCCA National Specialty she placed 3rd in her class in Puppy Sweeps and the Regular classes and in May at the Tulsa OK shows got those last two points to finish her championship and even pick up a grand champion point that weekend.  Stevie has started to compete with the big dogs in the specials/BOB ring, even though she still has a lot to learn about being a big girl show dog.  In July, she picked up her first 2 Grand Champion majors and is well on her way to getting that GCH in the front of her name like her momma Skyla and daddy Harry P.

As a first time Cardigan breeder, I could not be more proud of the two sisters.  They are both pretty in their own way and I am sure will both have a long and successful career in the show ring.

Here are the two sisters when they were babies (about 4 weeks old if I remember correctly)...even then they were adorable  Stevie on the left, Macy on the right:

And here is Macy now in her Group 2 picture with Don Glenn:

Gotta love those sisters....:)

Rojo....the wonder Cardi!

Skyla's pretty red boy Rojo has had a successful few weeks so we thought it was time that he got a blog post of his own.   Rojo and his owner Sandy have been hard at work at all the many activities he is involved.  He began with Rally last August and soon earned his Rally Novice title.  He has also begun working in Obedience and has earned legs toward his Beginning Novice title with one leg to go.  BUT the crowning achievement so far was that at his first herding trial he earned his HT.   Sandy and Rojo have worked hard to get this far at herding and I am so proud and happy at their success.

Rojo is a dog that loves to work and Sandy loves to find those activities that they can do together and be successful at.  What a perfect home my baby Rojo has and I am sure this is just the beginning of many titles for this smart, handsome young man and his wonderful mom Sandy.

So here are a few pictures of Rojo doing the herding thing... just love that handsome red boy!  :)

Rojo- head shot-wow what a handsome boy!

Happy First Birthday to Us!

On 1-27-12, the puppies officially turned a year old.  This has been an exciting year watching them grow up, go to new homes and start all those wonderful Cardi activities.  We had a puppy birthday party that four of the five got to attend and it was great fun for all.  Brother Louie in Michigan also had his own party and looked like he had a good time too.  I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful experience with my first litter of Cardigans and except for the small blip of Jet's terrible illness, it has been a year full of fun and lots of Cardigan barking.  So here is a brief recap of what they are all doing plus birthday pictures.

Stevie:   Stevie is continuing on with her baby show dog thing...though not so much  a baby.  She has 6 points and one major and we hope to continue that work in 2012.  She is also still working on that herding title and we need to get back to practicing with those sheep soon.

Jet:  Jet has been going to conformation class to get back in the swing of being a show dog.  Once he grows some hair, he will be back in the ring working on that championship like his sister Stevie.  He has been going to class and will be doing his first fun match this weekend since he has been sick.  Jet also still working on herding and need to get him out playing with the sheep ASAP.

Rojo:  Rojo has been a very busy boy working on tracking, herding, and Rally/Obedience.  He is going this weekend to try to be certified for Tracking so that he can work on that first leg of his TD. He is such a smart and happy boy and know he is going to have lots of titles very soon.

Louie:  Louie has been a very busy boy in Michigan. He just got certified as a Therapy Dog this week and is also working on Rally and Obedience.  He is a joy to his family that just love him and I couldn't be happier for him.

Macy:  Macy made her dog show debut in January at the Des Moines shows and got Best Puppy and a Puppy Group 4 on her first day as a baby show dog and a major Reserve on the second day.  I am so proud of that baby girl and happy to see her in the ring with Stevie and Jet.
